Listen.
“Make a way for yourself inside yourself. Stop looking in the other way of looking.”
The words are Rumi’s.
They stopped me in my tracks. . .
“Make a way for yourself inside yourself.”
They speak to me of space, of slowing down, of creation.
Make. A. Way.
My way is different from yours.
Make your way.
And stop looking elsewhere.
The words are Rumi’s. The meaning is yours.
Tell me.

Wow. I had to reread that a few times. It speaks to exactly what I’m going through right now. With school starting I’ve lost at least 3 hrs in the morning when I would read. write and get grounded for the day. I cried this morning when I knew I had to figure out a way to do what I need to do and what I want to do. So many people are willing to give advice, but I think Rumi’s right. Somewhere inside of me is the answer.
Thanks so much Sandi! This was so profoundly helpful!
It’s so easy to get caught up in others’ advice. Ends up sounding like a whole lot of noise! But when I get quiet and as Rumi says go inside myself, everything else falls away.
I just said these words to a friend a few days ago and knew their power and truth the moment they left my lips. I declared, “I feel like I’m finally living in the centre of my life!” That’s what Rumi seems to be saying too 🙂
“the centre of my life” – love that Rita! Not the sidelines or the fringes…but the centre.
To me, it feels: “Let your inner genius be born.”
As in creating a distance between self and people, unplug, disconnect, and start a deep introspective work on self inspiration; and develop it through different types of tools/skills, until genius your inner genius is awakened. Hmmm…
Hmmm indeed Karim! I like that you phrased it ‘until your inner genius is awakened’ vs. what we so often do, go out and make something happen. Both have their place in any project or goal, but there’s definitely something appealing about allowing what’s already there to come forth.
