It is time to disrupt your beliefs about time.
1. “I’m the one that’s got to die when it’s time for me to die, so let me live my life the way I want to.” ― Jimi Hendrix
It’s time. . .to do more of what you want.
And feel how you want to feel in life.
Stop trying to live up to someone else’s expectations.
Start living YOUR life the way YOU want.
2. “The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.” ― Mark Twain
It’s time. . .to stop worrying about the future and what might happen.
The future isn’t real.
It’s completely made up and you, my friend, are the author of that story.
Start saying something new for the life you say you want.
3. “Time is very slow for those who wait” – Shakespeare
It’s time. . .to stop procrastinating, distracting yourself, and ignoring your needs.
Stop waiting for the planets to align and just get on with it.
You know what you want.
Take one action, and repeat.
4. “All endings are also beginnings. We just don’t know it at the time.” ― Mitch Albom
It’s time. . .to lay to rest that sad love affair, failed business venture, and unused potential.
Those stories are weighing you down.
Here’s the thing you missed – however you judged those endings, they were also beginnings.
Like the time my broken heart lead to starting over.
Or the time one creative passion made room for another, and the start of a new career.
They’re only endings if you say they are.
5. “This is your life and its ending one moment at a time.” ― Chuck Palahniuk
It’s time. . .to get clear on how you want to feel when you die.
If you think about it now, there’s still time to correct your course and nip those regrets in the bud.
But as long as you persist in thinking you have all the time in the world, nothing much will change.
6. “There comes a time in every life when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your heart.” ― Sarah Dessen
It’s time. . .to stop avoiding your inner most self.
Make room, create space to get quiet and really listen to what your spirit wants for you.
The silence will tell you more than you ever thought possible.
7. “I’m killing time while I wait for life to shower me with meaning and happiness.” ― Bill Watterson
It’s time. . .to let go of external rewards.
Waiting for that day when you make it big, or hit that elusive six figure goal.
All that waiting is sucking the life out of you.
Life will not shower you with meaning – you’ve got to give it meaning that helps you thrive.
Life will not shower you with happiness – you’ve got to choose happiness.
Then choose it again. And again.
8. “They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” ― Andy Warhol
It’s time. . .to become a catalyst in your own life.
Time changes nothing without your intention.
People avoid change, make it wrong, ignore it, hide their heads in the sand.
You, however, could embrace change, and like nature, start producing results with less effort.
9. “Remember: the time you feel lonely is the time you most need to be by yourself. Life’s cruelest irony.” ― Douglas Coupland
It’s time. . .to love yourself fully.
Instead of looking outward to others, look at the mirror to yourself.
All the love in the world is right there in your gaze.
Embark on the love affair of a lifetime, with yourself.
10. “When people don’t express themselves, they die one piece at a time.” ― Laurie Halse Anderson
It’s time. . .to say what you have to say.
Keeping things in only makes them fester. How does that help anyone?
Speak. Express yourself. Get the words out of your head.
Understand that your speaking creates your reality.
You are more creator than you know.
11. “You know, it’s hard work to write a book. I can’t tell you how many times I really get going on an idea, then my quill breaks. Or I spill ink all over my writing tunic.” ― Ellen DeGeneres
It’s time. . .to give up your crazy excuses.
Those reasons and stories that keep you small are bullshit.
Listening to them is like listening to 8 track tapes instead of high fidelity sound.
Stop listening to those old, worn out records.
Start singing a new tune.
12. “People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of.” ― Paulo Coelho
It’s time. . .to respect and honour your dreams.
Mostly, you’ve ignored and abused them; paying them lip service to fool yourself and others.
Cherish your dreams. Breathe life into them.
Set them free from the cage you’ve created in your mind.
13. “Never forget that once upon a time, in an unguarded moment, you recognized yourself as a friend.” ― Elizabeth Gilbert
It’s time. . .to remember who you were as a child.
That you who lived each moment fully, and squeezed the joy out of life.
That you? Was your truest bestest friend.
Go back in time and connect with that you.
She’s still there, waiting to dance and play.
And one more for good luck. . .
“Time is a game played beautifully by children.” ― Heraclitus
It’s time. . .to remember that time is made up.
It’s only ‘late’ when your parents call you in for dinner.
Engage your inner child, and start having more fun!
Over to you:
If you told the truth, what is it really time for?
* Inspired by Cynthia Morris’ Free Write Fling.

This is so beautiful Sandi! I particularly love #8 and Ellen’s excuse for not writing that book! AND the bonus one:”“Time is a game played beautifully by children.” ― Heraclitus

How do you do it? Again and again! I LOVE coming here!
Lori
Lori I know, Ellen’s excuses cracked me up! We all have our version, that one excuse that works every time to let us off the hook from pursuing what’s important.
And that quote by Heraclitus makes me think of your post and the question, “Is the world a friendly place?” I don’t think children think of that at all. They just play 🙂
SOOOOO needed this right now!
Thanks for the reminders. x
ReneeMagnusson We all need reminders! I actually wrote this after a call with a client who used a number of these excuses on me – with no luck I might add!
They laughed when they saw what I’d written 😉
My childhood nanny died yesterday and this was a HUGE wake-up call. Time goes by so fast and life can be over in a split second. It’s our obligation to use every moment and to make the best of every day we are given. Time doesn’t wait for us to finally start living the way we’re supposed to live. It’s up to us to take action now and start living, not existing, today.
anneso87 Existing, surviving, tolerating…it makes me sad that this energy is so prevalent. And I know I can get kind of intense about giving up ‘someday’ thinking, but we need this kind of wake up call! For me it was when my father-in-law died two years ago, and I hear the same urgency in your comment dear Anne-Sophie. I want people to wake up before a loved one dies or an extreme situation occurs.
Sandi Amorim you’re doing a great job at that, Sandi.

Love the part about endings being beginnings. We just don’t know what is beginning yet so all we can see is the end. It takes faith to believe that something equally good or better will fill that spot…and moxie to make it so! ;-D
Sue Mitchell I know, I’d never seen that quote before and it totally resonated with me! And thank God we have moxie 😉
I love your reminder Sandi that meaning is created and happiness is a choice!
It’s time for me to trust that I’m growing my business at exactly the right pace…when I’m in that trusting flow, things happen so much easier and when I’m impatient, not so much!
Sabrina at MyMiBoSo Oh my, you’re talking to someone who is most definitely not known for her patience, so I understand completely! I think trust is a muscle we can develop. What do you think?
Sandi Amorim Absolutely – I keep practicing it, knowing it will get easier. Trusting “trust,” as it were 🙂
🙂 This post is such a beautiful manifesto cum affirmation, Sandi. Thank you for the inspiration!
Vidya Sury Phew! I thought it might turn into a rant 😉
Time is really all we have, isn’t it? It IS about time that we created a healthier relationship with this, the only real currency we have.
And yet, we are so willing to waste the time we have – fritter it away in pursuits that do not bring us joy or fulfillment.
Thanks for the clever reminders. I always love a good, swift kick in the butt from you, Sandi. 🙂
suddenlyjamie Good thing I wear fuzzy socks instead of steel toed boots 😉
Sandi Amorim HA! Yes, it surely is!!! 🙂
