Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things
Be bold, be brave and move forward with a peaceful and loving heart. Make your life matter!
Now that is a call to action that stirs the soul and I’m not surprised to find it on Tess Marshall’s About page!
Tess is all about facing down your fears and living a bold life. Her passion and integrity inspire, as does her willingness to share her experience generously through her work and her writing.
She is a writer, speaker, and courage coach with a master’s degree in counseling psychology, but she’s also a down-to-earth woman with a welcoming smile and a great laugh. I had the good fortune to meet Tess in person last year and she’s become a trusted online friend.
It’s been awhile since my last spotlight, but when I heard Tess was launching a new program, 30 Days of Bold, I knew right away I had to get her here. When you read her writing, her passion for supporting people in overcoming their fears and living out loud is palpable.
Tess believes, “It’s our responsibility to acknowledge, face, and dissolve our fear.”
In her own life she’s walked the talk dealing with challenges she faced, using them as fuel to create an awesome life for herself, and anyone around her.
I’m delighted to shine the light on Tess Marshall and her passion for The Bold Life.
1. Why are you here?
My primary reason for being here is to learn how to love unconditionally.
I can judge how I’m doing by my own peace of
mind and the state of my relationships. Everyone here is my teacher: my family, friends, clients, community, and the entire world.
The love that I have and the love that I give will make the world a better place to be.
2. What is your future calling you to do?
My future self is calling me to play bigger.
Be bolder. Experience more joy. Dissolve fear faster.
And to continue to help others do the same!
3. How do you honour that calling?
My life is designed around my calling.
On a personal level my husband and my four daughters and their families are my biggest teachers and offer me my biggest blessons. I’d say my son-in-laws have been my biggest mirrors and have taught me over the years how to increase my ability to love. I feel like they were sent to me. I love them dearly.
I also honor my calling through my blog, projects, and courage coaching. Everyone is afraid. We hold back because we want to be safe, but there is no such thing as safety. We miss out on financial, physical, and social opportunities because of fear. We miss out on love. It’s costly.
4. What is both effortless and life-giving to you?
Professional speaking, coaching, helping people. I’m very intuitive and because of my training and my own personal growth I can read people very well. I’m good at zeroing in on what needs to be addressed.
I’m very good at holding the sacred space that allows a person to heal. I’m best to be able to help bring out the best in others and help others build upon that. Again that’s why I’m here.
“You can’t think your way out of fear. You must act your way out of it.” – Tess
On a personal level what is effortless and life-giving is laughter, running, hiking, and being with the people I love. I’ve practiced “shifting my perception” when I’m not at peace for 25 years.
Giving up conflict in this manner has saved my marriage and my mind!
5. What do you do best?
Laugh! Forgive.
6. What is extraordinary about your work?
My authenticity and compassion. My fierceness and determination.
My desire to see clients and The Bold Life community believe in themselves and their gifts and talents in order to achieve their desires.
“When one of us succeeds, we all succeed in making the world a better place to live!” – Tess
7. What is guaranteed to inspire you?
My grandchildren. They have shown me love without conditions. It’s the closest I’ve come to knowing what it is.
I like to transfer what I have with them to all of my relationships.
8. What will your epitaph say when you’ve lived life on your terms?
Fear not. Teach only love for that is what you are.

Unconditional love is probably the ultimate challenge! I love your passion for overcoming fear and living a love filled life Elle. 🙂
Bluetufty Tess is a fireball of fear busting! Thanks for connecting Carolyn 🙂
Sandi Amorim Bluetufty Thanks so much of you awesome interview. You have a way of bringing out the best in people with your questions. I’m sure you’re an awesome coach. So glad you’re in my life.
Bluetufty Thanks so much for your support. If I’m fearful I’m miserable so I have to keep moving;) Without love in my life it would be pretty empty. I had this big argument two days ago. Of course I wasn’t centered or it would have never happened. The good think about it was that I was able to communicate my needs and so was the other party. I apologized and got my peace back. I really can’t quite remember when I was so upset. This weekend I’m going to journal and figure out what was triggered for me.
I definately believe the people who have gone through the experience themselves are the best to teach and coach from their own experiences! It’s unfortunate there is so many that have good theory and try to teach it.
Which means it’s good to find people like Tess that have gone through it and can pass her learnings on.

EFTFreedom Yes exactly! The challenges I’ve gone through in my own life make me that much better at what I do in my work. Our own challenges give us perspective and compassion for what others go through. That’s just one of the things I love about Tess TheBoldLife.
Great interview. I know the ecourse will help many. All the best.
