“Alice laughed. ‘There’s no use trying,’ she said. ‘One can’t believe impossible things.’
‘I daresay you haven’t had much practice,’ said the Queen. ‘When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” – Lewis Carroll

You believe all kinds of crap about yourself.
Stories you made up as a child, that are still with you to this day.
“Made up” are the words I want you to focus on right now.
You made it all up.
And then, you turned those made up tales into rock solid truths about who you are.
Now here’s the amazing part. . .
Fast forward 20, 30, 40 years and you’re mostly still living your life based on the upset of a 5 year old. I know, crazy right?
Today is the day to make up something good.
Something that inspires you to take action every time you think it.
Something that gets your heart racing in excitement and anticipation.
Something that energizes you, from the top of your head right down to your toes.
Make it up and start believing.
Set out to create a new habit of looking for evidence that supports your new story.
Here’s what I mean. . .
I am a sought after writer, soon to be best-selling author.
Is this statement currently true?
I’m happy to say the first part is becoming more true every day. I work hard on this blog to become a better writer and I’m working on the book that will lead to the best-selling part.
It’s important to notice that it’s not enough to make up a new story.
You’ve got to follow through with action.
I could chant “I’m a best-selling author” every day like a mantra, but if I’m not willing to do the work there will be no writing, no book, no best-seller.
I know, I’m poking fun at the Law of Attraction, but don’t get your knickers in a knot!
I’m not saying I don’t believe in it, I’m saying it takes more than looking in the mirror and chanting to manifest a new reality.
It takes consistent work, one step at a time, and it takes effort, which often gets a bad rap.
But here’s what you need to get about effort. . .
It’s not good or bad; it’s just energy, and where you put that energy is the key.
If your effort goes into believing the truth of those long-ago stories, that will give you a different reality than putting your effort on one smart action every day to move your dreams forward.
Now back to those six impossible things. . .
Right now, grab paper and pen and jot down 6 things you’d love to believe about yourself or 6 goals you’d love to make happen this year and beyond.
Over to you:
- Make note of your 6 things.
- Share 1 action that will move one of those things forward today!
Love the raw, direct feel of this post. I’ll go with being a sought after editor and successful writer, thank you very much!
Sandra Pawula Love that new story Sandra, and you’re already well on your way!
Hi Sandi,
I love the idea that to just “believe “(and to do the hard work) our lives can evolve. The focus is great – writing down six things and keeping focused is what helps me. Developing my coaching practice is what I’m looking to do, as well as finish my ebook. The best part is that I’m never bored, always plenty to keep me busy! Take care and thanks.
Cathy Taughinbaugh I know that it can sound a bit simplified, “just believe” but we believe all that old stuff about ourselves, don’t we? I tell myself often, “It’s all made up, so make up something good.”
And great to hear about your coaching practice. Let me know if I can support that in some way. Been at it 12 years 🙂
There is something so powerful about taking this step-by-step to create momentum. One of the things I am working on this year is my writing by developing a true writing practice. It helps me to find my voice, clarify my views and understand the world around me. My writing also feeds my blog, my email newsletter, my practice and my soul. So, that’s what I’m going to do. Just write.
Erica Holthausen Just write, and in doing so you will write a new story for your life and business 🙂
It’s all about a shift in consciousness isn’t it Sandi. With the new consciousness of who we’ve decided to be comes new ideas to operate from. I love how you see yourself and can totally imagine you experiencing exactly what you’ve chosen. Kudos to you.
Love Elle
xoxo
ElleSommer Focusing on the small shifts is so much more powerful than waiting for some big breakthrough, isn’t it? It’s easy to be seduced by the quick-fix solutions out there, but nothing beats small steps taken consistently over time 🙂
I love this! I would also like to add that for me digging into the emotional feeling of the manifestation has been key. Personally, I have to first feel it, then believe it, and then take action. Thanks so much for the inspiration to get back to that process. I needed a reminder this week!
ThatVitalSpark YES, the feeling is so important, moreso than most of us believe! If writing and thinking about what I want for myself as a writer didn’t feel so good, I’m sure I wouldn’t have stuck to it the way I have! That’s a whole other blog post 🙂
“6 things you’d love to believe about yourself” 🙂 I love that!
I’m going to explore that. 🙂
Loved this too: “It takes consistent work, one step at a time, and it takes effort, which often gets a bad rap.

Aileen | Kaizen Vision I’ve been really thinking about effort a lot lately because it seems like so many are trying to avoid it. But as I wrote, it’s not good or bad, is it? Would love to hear what shows up as you explore 🙂

Sandi,
I love this! I’m going to write my 6 things for the new year. It reminds me of I AM statements. But I agree then you need to act upon your new ideas.
Thanks for a great, inspiring post Sandi!
Betsy at Zen Mama I am…probably the most powerful two words in life. Thanks for reminding me of that Betsy!
I put my six things on Facebook. My knickers are unknotting!
TessMarshall Hahaha, Knotted knickers are so uncomfortable, don’t you think? 😉
Loved the energy of your post!
One of my six things is to reconnect with an old school friend. Off to book a flight!
Bluetufty Wow Carolyn, that’s inspired action – I love it!
Hi Sandi,
So true, so true! We are living our lives according to the belief system developed by a child! (This is what I wrote about in my book 😉
Six impossible things? I’m already on it! I feel caught up in a never-ending learning curve (the most recent one being Pinterest – yep – I took the Pinterest Plunge!) and I love it because learning new things is good for the brain!
🙂
Lori
Lori Oh no, you’ve fallen down the blackhole of Pinterest! 😉
Can’t wait to hear your 6 impossible things Lori!
Sandi Amorim Lori #1 – Pinterest (keeping up, figuring it out) #2 Google+ (same things) #3 Facebook social media for my business TCP )same as the first two) #4 Trying new things at LFI – like series that could become weekly #5 taking care of my son’s affairs (and not procrastinating because it’s hard) and #6 starting my second book. May I add # 7 and #8? creating a LFI E-book to intro the blog and figuring out how to do some YouTube videos for TCP?
Are you happy now? You owe me a Life of a Blogger post AND a picture 😉 (No, I’m serious!)
Lori Hahaha, I was going to email you about the Life of a Blogger post 🙂 What should my word be, I wonder?
Also? Love your list of impossible (but not for long) things!
Sandi Amorim Lori I’m so glad! Of course I was going to ask you 🙂 Think about and claim your word before someone else does okay!?
It is pretty crazy we still are operating from learnings at such a young age. And sometimes it takes alot to become aware of it. But learning to let go of those learnings and patterns in very valuable.
It’s unfortunate that were taught in some circles that you just need to visualize and you get what you want. Taking action should be emphasized more. Afterall that makes the visualization more powerful!
EFTFreedom Vision alone is not enough. Action alone is not enough. It’s when you combine both that things start to get magical, wouldn’t you agree? 🙂
Sandi Amorim I definately agree Sandi! The challenge is how much of both and I believe that comes from experience 🙂
The combination really does kick things up a notch compared to just any single one alone!
Great post, Sandi, and such an important reminder.
It’s easy to become discouraged by big goals, and keep those childhood lessons and beliefs internalised instead of recognising them for what they are: beliefs, not reality.
I’m excited by the prospect of writing down my six impossible things, and making that first step towards them conscious and actionable!
Thanks 🙂
Hannah BWYA Yay for six more impossible things! I think I might have to write a follow up post to check in on everyone 🙂
Sandi, I want a SIGNED copy of that book :).
Sabrina at MyMiBoSo How about I come down and deliver it in person? 🙂
Sandi Amorim Sandi, you’re ALWAYS welcome in my home – seriously, if ever in LA let me know!
