Replace Your Fear

It’s time for a wake-up call.

Do you really need to have a health crisis or extreme emergency before pursuing what you want in life?

Many people live that way; it’s normal and common, but do you want to live that way?

Is it really that important to stay safe, look good, and maintain the status quo? None of those things are making you happy or fulfilling your dreams so why are they still getting so much air time?

If I could reach through the screen and give you a nudge I would. Because I’m passionate about living without regrets. And while this may seem like a rant, bear with me – I’m committed to something and I want to make sure you know it.

I’m committed to living out loud, as fully and as authentically as I can and sometimes that gets messy.

I’m OK with messy, and I’ll admit I even like to stir things up.

Occasionally someone will suggest I tone it down a bit (Do you really need to say those things, Sandi?) and sure, I could, but I don’t want to live that way.

I don’t want to live a toned down life, and I don’t think you do either.

Life gets messy. It’ll never be perfect. You’ll never get it all handled. And so what.

I’m not saying it’s easy. Some days I want to throw in the towel and take the easy path just as much if not more than you do.

But the truth is the easy path bores me to tears.

It’s not why we’re here.

I’m talking to you…the one who’s wasting your genius in that life-sucking job.

And you…the one oozing creativity in everything you do except for your work.

And you…the one who daydreams of living a life you love.

Someday. Maybe. Can you hear the death bell toll?

Replace your fear.

Knock it on its head.

Replace it with curiousity, energy, action.

I’m talking to you if you’re living a life gone numb.

I’m talking to myself as I always do when I talk to you – that’s how I know this is real, that’s how I know it has to be said.

Even if all you did was take one small action every day you would move forward on your dream. It doesn’t have to be a big, bold dream; you can start as small as you like.

Whatever. One action will still move you one step closer.

But as the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

From over here I see you thirsting for a rich, fulfilling life. I hear you parched with longing for what has meaning. I sense you shrivelling up on the inside, dehydrated and dying.

Dramatic words, but it’s an urgent thing I’m witnessing.

It takes guts to take that drink. Courage to move past the status quo. Boldness to go after what you want.

You can do it though.

I know you can because I can, and we’re no different.

I was you when I dreamed of being an artist.

I was you when I stumbled from job to job not knowing where I belonged.

I was you when I took the leap and became self employed.

I am you now as I consider what’s next.

Replace your fear with how you want to feel.

When you wake up each day, when you settle down to do your great work, when you shine so bright people take note.

Replace your fear.

Ask yourself, “How do I want to feel?”

Admit how you want to feel, own what you’ve longed for and start writing a new chapter in your story.

  1. So many lifestyle coaches, inspirational writers and gurus seem to have “taken the leap” to become the aforementioned. How does Robert Kiyosaki pay for his Rich Dad life? Is it his property portfolio? No, it’s his publishing empire. I don’t mean to be down on you, but you know what I’m saying. And in financial terms, that’s called a pyramid scheme. Interested to read what you think. Michael @takooba on Twitter. Night!

    1. Michael, I understand what you’re saying but for the record, I’ve been a self-employed coach for 10+ years with no books and no empires of any kind and I don’t expect that to change any time soon!

  2. I love when your posts speak *directly* to me. Thank you for this!

and I think the unplanned butterfly tattoo I got on my forearm yesterday might qualify as living out loud. Hooray!
    Hugs and butterflies,
    ~T~

ps – can’t wait for the book!

    1. Haha, sometimes these posts start out with me speaking directly to me! That’s how I know it’s gotta be said and YES the butterfly is an expression of LOLA (living out loud authentically!) 🙂

  3. Geez, you’re good – I seriously felt you shaking me Sandi!

This was me…but no longer. I have and am changing it!And you. . .the one oozing creativity in everything you do except for your work.
