Yesterday You Said Tomorrow

Tomorrow you’re going to take that trip; you know, the one you’ve always dreamed of.

Tomorrow you’re going to write that book; you know, the one that’s been burning inside you forever.

Tomorrow is going to be the day you have fun; no really, the whole day just to play like a child.

But the days turn into weeks, and then into months.

The tomorrows add up and turn into years.

And you look back and wonder. . .

What the hell happened?

They say time flies when you’re having fun.

Ha! It also flies when you’re saving up your tomorrows.

But. . .

What if today you did something different?

What if today you took one new action?

Because here’s the thing. . .

You’ve said tomorrow far too often and far too long.

You know it’s true.

It’s time to start saying (and doing) something new.

NOW.

Like shifting from someday thinking to ==> “Hell yeah, what one action can I take today?”

Like hearing your lizard brain and saying ==> “Screw you Lizzy! I’m gonna make that call!”

Like listening to your heart’s desire and saying ==> “YES, I hear you now.”

Others have done it.

They’ve done the impossible, done the unthinkable and thrived.

They’ve been scared just like you.

They took the action/s anyway.

“You must find the place inside yourself where nothing is impossible.” — Deepak Chopra

Farnoosh Brock said goodbye to a successful corporate career to follow her passion.

Srinivas Rao redefined and expanded his dream when things didn’t go as planned.

Mars Dorian blew his lizard brain out of the water with his brilliant creativity.

Jonathan Fields bared his soul in writing his newest book Uncertainty.

– And Chris Guillebeau had no idea what he was about to unleash when he created the World Domination Summit.

YOU? Are no different.

What you want is not harder.

You just have to give up tomorrow in service of what matters.

Now.

  1. I like this: It also flies when you’re saving up your tomorrows. Yikes! You’re right on with this post Sandi! The time to act is now. Well said!

“Tomorrow is going to be the day you have fun; no really, the whole day just to play like a child.” I’ll take one of those 😉 Lori

  2. I just watched the trailer to Jonathan Fields’ book and was so moved. I want it!
My five-yr-old always asks, “Is it tomorrow today?” In other word,”Is it time, yet?” Ho wdoes it happen that we lose that innocent way of seeing and feeling how precious our moments are, and find ourselves wanting to buy books to find our way back? This might sound strange and out of context, but that’s what someone who lives with Down’s Syndrome or another developmental “disorder” gives me and why I love to hang out with them. They are the perfect role models of adult “children”! They know how to live and do in the now.

  3. I did it! I took one action that I’ve been holding off for a while: book a free 30 min consultation.

Guys, if you are reading this, do it today! It’s worth it a lot!

    Eugen

  4. *BLUSH* thanks for the mention. Read this at doc’s and it made me smile all over even before you mentioned me. Sandi, you rock and your latest posts are amazing – keep those juices flowing. xoxo !

    1. Hope it kept you entertained at the doc’s 😉 and of course I would mention your inspiring move! I really want people to get that we all have fear and we all can take one action (and then another, and so on!) It’s not about extraordinary people. It’s about ordinary people taking extraordinary actions. Like you did when you left your corporate career!

  5. You blow me away consistently with your insightful, to the point posts! I am stoked to say I am definitely saying a lot more NOW – still a few somedays but getting there 🙂 Love you!

    1. Love you back, my most sparkilicious friend! Like the lizard brain, I don’t think the somedays and tomorrows are ever going to disappear from our thinking, but we can sure make them more manageable so they no longer stop us!!

  6. HELL, YES, Sandi! There is no “someday.” No “tomorrow.” THIS. IS. IT. Right now…THIS moment. And every great feat was accomplished one single step at a time. When we really “get” this…it shifts everything. Life comes more fully, vibrantly alive as we go after what we want rather than putting it off. Keep shouting it out to any and all who will listen. ; )

      1. LOL! We are definitely on the same page and we seem to be synchronistically spreading the same message. Maybe we ought to be playing with possibilities for how we might work together more intentionally. ; )

    1. Funny, I just responded to a comment that @johnfalchetto:twitter made in a similar vein! Someday (or tomorrow) never comes makes me think of a song from the 50’s maybe that my mom used to sing!

      1. Yes, it is.  I just sent the email to Meg that we discussed in my coaching session this morning.  I’ll send you a copy (meant to but forgot to bcc you on it).  Thanks.  You’re the greatest! 🙂

  7. What I got to “YOU? Are no different.” It struck something within. Like a whole lot of doubt came up. It’s scary and also exciting to think that I am no different than all of you. But of course it’s more scary. That’s why I put it off just one more day.

But I think the biggest thing I got from this was that I can take it one day at a time. I don’t have to do it all tomorrow. I can take small steps- do one thing. A whole lot of little things can develop into one big thing.

    :]

  8. I’m so thankful to have you in my life. I continually need this reminder and you always give me a virtual poke through your writing (and coaching!) exactly when it’s needed. Just feel so, so lucky 🙂

    1. Jason!
How you live your life is totally in line with what I’ve written here. There is no someday thinking in you which is why you inspire others so effortlessly. Thanks for dropping in my friend 🙂
