Where Do You Look?

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs.
When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” – Ansel Adams

When thoughts and words become unclear where do you focus?

  • Do you look inward for clarity and confidence?
  • Do you trust your own standards and ideals?

OR

  • Do you look outward, searching for validation from others?
  • Do you question yourself and let others decide for you?

“Trust yourself, and you will know how to live.” – Goethe

Where do you focus and how does it serve you?

  1. inward… I find the spiral and off it goes   BTW, like your selection of Ansel Adams to pose the Q!

  2. I’ve been thinking about this all day now:  When words and thoughts become unclear, I sometimes I look outward to collect perspectives…often it’s something visual…art or design and then a few written pieces in search of clarity and resonance.  Sometimes I stop looking anywhere — in or out — because I just need rest.

  3. Hey Sandi, firstly can I say your site looks super sexy. Its funny only last night a few friends and I were discussing how much e-validation seams to be taking place in our lives. They way people are relying on feedback, responses from social networks to make them feel important special, like their appreciated. I’m consciously working really hard at the moment to  look inward for clarity and confidence and  trust my own standards and ideals”. It’s not easy, but I need it. Much love.xx

    1. Hey Stacey!
I’ve noticed the same thing since starting my blog last year. It’s easy to get caught up in the feedback and stats and I have to really manage my attachment to that. It does take conscious effort to look inward sometimes, but I think it’s so worth the effort.

Lots of love back atcha sister and thanks for the feedback on the site!

  4. These days I am much more confident in looking to myself, finding within that which I need. Mostly because I put it there in the first place…even if it was years ago. I seemed to have dug my own well and also filled it. Though others have, of course, contributed. This month I am focusing on the words ‘heed’ and ‘diligence’ and it has been an interesting focus.
I also realised recently, quite to my surpise, that i have lost fear. Yes plain simple fear. Of People things etc.
